Objectives: This course aims at sensitizing students to the reality that they are the heirs to a great Islamic, religious, intellectual, cultural and ethical heritage rooted in diversity, reason, spiritual ideals, tolerance, and enduring systems of knowledge and law.
Contents: Emergence of Islam: Lectures on the Development of Islamic World-view; Intellectual Tradition and Polity; Studies in Islamic Economics; The Spirit of Islam; Islam as a Source and Purpose of Knowledge; History and Philosophy of Muslim Contribution to Science and Technology; Society and State in Islam; Sufism and Ethical Foundations of Islam.
