Artificial Intelligence

(DC) Domain Core Theory: 3 Cr. Hrs Total: 3 Cr. Hrs
Objectives: Main objective of the course is to introduce ideas and concepts that form the foundation of the field of artificial intelligence. The course will enable students to understand the structure of intelligent agents. It will also focus on the searching techniques that allow agents to solve problems. The students will be familiarized with the representation of knowledge, and how logic can be used for reasoning.

Contents: Introduction to Al, problem solving by searching, Uninformed Search Strategies (Breadth-First Search, Depth-First Search, Depth-limited Search, Iterative Deepening Depth-first Search, Comparison of Uninformed Search Strategies). Informed Search and Exploration (Informed (Heuristic) Search Strategies: Greedy Best-first Search, A* search, Heuristic Functions, Local Search Algorithms and Optimization Problems). Adversarial Search (Games, Minimax Algorithm, Alpha-Beta Pruning). Genetic Algorithms, Reasoning and Knowledge Representation, expert systems, Learning and prolog programming.
