Objectives: The objective of this course is to familiarize students with information security concepts, principles and technology. Students will learn about different types of attacks and how information can be secured against these attacks. The course will also introduce information security tools for threat detection and analysis.
Contents: Security concepts and needs, threats, attacks and assets, Legal and ethical issues in information security. Design principles, Security technology, Authentication and Access control, Database security, Malicious software, Firewalls, Intrusion detection, Intrusion Prevention, Security, tools, Symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, Cipher methods, Cryptographic algorithms, Cryptographic tools, Network Security, Physical security, Planning for security, Risk assessment and management, Implementing information security.
